Project-specific optimization

Comfort Air Technology devices and components for building air conditioning are tested and optimized under standardized laboratory conditions with regard to acoustics, cooling/heating performance and room flow or thermal comfort. In practice, however, structural conditions often do not correspond to laboratory conditions. Details such as protruding edges on walls or faults in the air supply affect the performance of an appliance or the air velocities in the occupied zone. Some examples of this are

  • Disturbed discharge direction of air conditioning units
  • Faults in the air duct of volume flow controllers
  • Use of work areas outside the common area or awkward placement of office furniture

To ensure the functionality of a planned air conditioning concept, it makes sense to carry out measurements in advance before implementation in order to assess any reductions in performance that may occur and to be able to compensate for them by taking appropriate measures and making adjustments to the air conditioning components.

However, there are also cases in process engineering systems where a fundamental revision of the air technology components in a system makes sense, for example in the case of product optimization or further development. Depending on the type, design and installation of a new component in a production process, such as a fan, there is often a high potential for optimization.

As part of LTG's engineering services, we evaluate air conditioning equipment or Process Air Technology components either directly on site in the real installation situation or production plant or simulate the conditions in our highly flexible room flow laboratory. There, the actual structural conditions can be recreated both on an original and model scale. Thanks to state-of-the-art measurement technology, we can simulate a very wide range of applications and environmental conditions: our services include the visualization of air flows, volume flow or pressure measurements, thermal or acoustic measurements and much more.

We evaluate a planned concept on the basis of specific load cases, provide recommendations for action or make appropriate adjustments to the planned products. Depending on the problem, we develop an optimal solution: an increase in thermal or acoustic comfort, higher energy efficiency or optimized flow paths with the aim of an ideal production process.
